Men in heels: hot or not?

One word: Guyliner. For us it epitomises the idea of a metrosexual man; one who embraces his sensitive side as well as wanting to look good – with a little help in the fashion and beauty department.

While most girls are now comfortable with a guy borrowing moisturiser (it has its benefits) how about your shoes? Well apparently high heels for men are becoming fashionable – although we can’t see Brad Pitt, George Clooney or Robert Pattinson sashaying in stilettos any time soon!

The high heels look is thankfully not inspired by drag queens or 70s glittery platforms but more to do with power dressing.

Is this really about power?

Luke Nero, a promoter at hip club Mr Black in LA, told The New York Times (via The DM): ‘I went to a loft party yesterday, and there was a guy in normal shorts, normal tank and really hot red pumps. That’s it! Everyone was like, “Oh my God, I love those

Sean Wagner, 23, from LA, reportedly told the paper: ‘I never leave the house with less than eight inches on my feet… It helps you see over the cattle.’

While plenty of men might have to have bespoke shoes made, apparently there is a roaring trade for larger-sized Louboutins etc too.

Another guy called Gregory Alexander told the newspaper: ‘I love the height… It helps when you’re in a club. I’ve bought Louis Vuitton. I’ve bought Gucci. But a lot of designersdon’t go high enough for me. I found a company in Arizona that will do 15-inch
heels for $3,000.’

Attractive or not?

Clearly these men are as keen to splash the cash on magnificent shoes as women and the appeal seems to lie in the power or being taller than others and walking in a certain way- that a lot of women say makes them feel more confident.

And it appears that men want more choices, including more shoes! Of course putting the short man complex aside and the fact you might find your bf in stilettos an acquired taste…what if high heels for men did become mainstream again?

Girls won’t need to worry about their bf being shorter when they choose to wear heels and men will take more of an interest and
understanding in shoe shopping. Voila!?
