Barbour sales shoot up: The Middleton effect?

As we near the end of 2011 (retrospective coming up after Christmas!) there is one perhaps unlikely ‘celebrity’ that has changed the fashion landscape arguably more than any other this year.

Ok there are a number of contenders that could fit that statement (Lady Gaga springs to mind) but I’m thinking of Kate Middleton. Sales of ‘nude’ heels soared, clear tights are apparently acceptable again  (maybe) and now Barbour jackets are cool … with the help of other more rock and roll celebrities such as Alexa Chung, the cast of Made in Chelsea and Fearne Cotton.

Once the preserve of aristocrats gone shooting pheasants (we believe this might still go on) Barbour’s £89 ‘Liddesdale’ padded jacket has actually sold out at Selfridges, contributing to sales rocketing by 435% – phew! And there are neons too.

Here are a few of our favourite Barbour babes- from real royals to style queens of the summer festivals.
