2011 Snap Fashion Roundup

Hi everyone,

Jenny here for our last post of 2011.  It’s been a great year for Snap Fashion, full of meetings and deals, filming and fashion, as well as meeting some great people along the way.

We’ve spent a year continuing to hone the technology and have created our Snap Fashion Figure Finder to let you find your body shape from a photograph.  Alex Nako from Dimaquina helped us make Snap look swish and stylish and has given Snap Fashion a much needed facelift.  We just can’t wait to launch in 2012 now.

Can't wait for you all to get your hands on Snap!

We’re working with over 80 amazing clothing companies, meaning that at launch there are going to be thousands of items for you to search with ease!  Our affiliates include Debenhams, House of Fraser, Very, M&S, Harrods, Miss Selfridge, Oasis, Karen Millen,  Ted Baker… the list of goes on and on and you can see the whole thing here.

We’ve won a few competitions this year, but we’re very proud of two in particular.

We were one of eighteen companies lucky enough to win the Tech City Launchpad Competition run by the Technology Strategy Board.  This means that we are now proud residents of Tech City and have met some fantastic companies along the way, including MagnoliaBox, PixelPin, Apps For Good, Tech City Map, DanceToThis…and so many more!  It’s great to be based in such a vibrant start up community and can’t think of a better place to grow our company in 2012.

We're around here somewhere!

We  were also listed in Red Bull’s Future 50 Competition, run by RealBusiness Magazine and Red Bull.  This placed us among the top 50 “most innovative, creative and disruptive young brands” in the UK.  It is great that we’re beginning to be recognised in the startup community and we’re keen to prove that our company really will change the Internet search scene, when we launch in the New Year.

Hopefully our business has wings!

We’ve met some fantastic people along the way this year.  Viadynamics has been invaluable in getting Snap Fashion going (if you’re a startup based in London you should really check them out!) and we’ve met two of the most helpful people ever: Bob Schukai (aka Mobile Bob) from Thomson Reuters and Sarah Turner from UKTI.  We’re so lucky to be surrounded by such a great team and people willing to help us get Snap started and we feel that this is going to be invaluable in the new year.  If you want to get involved with Snap then please drop me an email – my contact details are on our website.

The end of the year brought us our first taste of Snap Fashion fame when we were featured on BBC Click.  The BBC put together a fantastic segment on Visual Search Technologies, and showed Snap Fashion alongside the mighty Google and Aurasma.  The programme was shown at the end of December, and pretty much sums up what Snap Fashion’s figure finder is going to be all about: why don’t you take a look here?  (We’re 15 minutes 30 seconds in)

Finally, we’d like to thank all of you for reading our blog and following us on Twitter.  We genuinely can’t wait for you all to be able to use Snap, but we hope you’re enjoying our blog in the meantime.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year,

The Snap Fashion Team x
