OMG this week has seen four of the most amazing beauty collaborations of late. We’ll slow down and breathe…the excitement in the Snap office is palpable! Here’s part one…
1) Nars x Andy Warhol
We have been obsessed with Andy Warhol’s art forever and one of our favourites is that portrait of Elizabeth Taylor with the punchy green eyeshadow. And now, we can paint our own faces with a collection from Nars inspired by the great pop artists’s prints. Hurray! One of our favourite pieces from the collection is the Warhol monochrome eyeshadow palate- but is it too pretty to use…is it itself a work of art?!
(P.S. the pics came out this week but the collection drops on 1 November)
2) Carine Roitfeld for MAC
One for sexy senoritas. This looks like a super chic way of updating old make-up bag favouites as the collection is based on Carine’s chic and smudy signature eyes- or as she puts it, ‘tired sexy’. Now we can rock the tired look, but this Mac launch might help with the other bit and OMG there’s a video!
There are 21 pieces to collect (and you can justify a few as they are smoky staples) but as with all Mac collections you better catch them while you can.
Carine says: “Beauty is about a small accident, it is not totally perfect. Sometimes bad things are the more beautiful things. So when you wake up and you haven’t taken off your mascara and you look a bit tired, but tired sexy – this is what I like.”

Or should that be erases eyebrows?!
Kelly Osbourne has been snapped wearing a stylish Topshop cut-out summer dress (that is or was in the sale *gasp*) with bleached brows. Apparently the radical beauty statement was for a fashion shoot but she has kept the look and it is striking (along with her fantastically playful plastic Chanel earrings).
Better dye them again in time for AW12 though Kelly, big brows are BACK!
Another fashion/tech mash-up for you; this time for your face. Yves Saint Laurent has created a Facebook- inspired make-up eye shadow quad called ‘Devoted to Fans #1’ that you can only buy if you’re a Facebook ‘fan’ apparently.
The colours are what you would expect and echo the brand’s epic Rive Gauche packaging as well as that social network. There are only 1,650 up for grabs so the 350,000 Facebook fans better watch out. Do you ‘like’ this idea?
From bright sunglasses and see-through Furla tote bags to neon lip products and classic shoes popping up everywhere, jelly is having a fashion moment…except perhaps at Tiffany’s.
According to fashion bible WWD, Tiffany is thinking of ditching its iconic jelly bean necklace and its designer, Elsa Peretti might split from the company after 38 years and creating some of its most popular designs – you know that heart necklace right? Better get one while you can.
But here are a few other jelly goodies to pick ‘n’ mix with your SS12 wardrobe.
Supermodel Lily Cole is The Body Shop’s first ever brand ambassador and has just launched the pink and perky Beauty With Heart collection, which features pearly pink highlighters, shimmery eye shadows and glossy lip products.
Here’s the spiel: “Beauty With Heart places emphasis on a beauty experience that is more than skin-deep, putting a human stamp on beauty and empowering people the world over to Look Good, Feel Good And Do Good.”
“I have long been an advocate of the potential of using business and consumer power to cause positive change. The Body Shop takes a responsible attitude to people and the environment, and it feels amazing to be supporting a brand who are pioneers in that way of working.”
Well quite. We’re big fans and Lily looks great! Will you be snapping up some of this limited edition collection?
The first thing you should know is that the Snap Fashion sisters are seriously averse to needles of any kind and so find this trend super scary.
Of course piercings of any kind have got more mainstream in recent years- Topshop and ASOS have both started selling ear tunnels. But shedding the EMO and underground image, more extreme facial jewellery has hit the catwalk – but thankfully most of it is pretend.
Givenchy debuted some serious nose rings and heavy-weight earrings that toyed with last season’s gothic and fetish trends, while Chanel embellished its models with plenty of stick-on pearl earrings running up and down ears and even the spine. But the real trend is for elaborate ear cuffs that conveniently hook over the ear and allow you to show off spikes, flowers or underwater decorations all down the side of your ear without any pain involved.
Here are our catwalk and high street favourites? Will you be giving this dramatic trend a go?
Here’s an interesting one for you – what happens when you take an edgy designer, get him to do a spin-off collection for the high street and then a make-up collection?
Gile’s Deacon’s make-up line for New Look, called Gold by Giles Beauty is laudably cheap- you can pick up lipglosses for £3, mascara for £3 and even eye quads for £4 and the colours are great – but we would have liked better quality packaging and more personality from one of the catwalk’s superstars.
It kind of looks like the Giles products have been squeezed into standard high street packaging, but who knows, product-wise you might get lots of bang for your buck and £2.99 for this season’s bright lipstick shades are a great non-committal way of experimenting with a new look (pardon the pun). Has anyone tried them yet?
We LOVE Cheryl Cole’s sense of style but are fascinated by the diminutive popstrel’s massive hair…it seems to have got bigger since Cheryl became the face of L’Oreal and therefore she presumably has endless supplies of hairspray.
We swooned at the massive beehive of last year and now Cheryl’s hair has got larger still for her 2013 calendar. To quote Mean Girls (at every opportunity) ‘that’s why her hair’s so big…it’s full of secrets’. Maybe secrets are the secret to big hair – who knows? Possibly Cheryl. Whatever, here’s a styling soundtrack to inspire your next up-do attempt.
We are super excited about Cheryl’s new single, Call My Name, which has been written and produced by Calvin Harris and love the promo shot, where Cheryl is (obviously) wearing Versus and peeping through an eye-catching PPQ necklace.

I’m feeling the strangest sense of deja-vu. Have you seen Company magazine’s May cover? Kate Bosworth is looking great as usual – but with the sane dip-dyed hair as last summer. Is she re-visiting the aqua dip dye look or was this shot ages ago?
Whatever the case we’re excited to see her appear in L!fe Happens alongside equally stylish Rachel Bilson and Lauren Conrad. Woohoo!
