OMG Victoria Beckham wears trainers

…and a tracksuit!

VB had declared that she woudn’t be seen dead in public in a tracksuit, but the polished designer has been papped in just that…and trainers instead of her famed stilettos. Working the sports luxe trend hard, we salute you Victoria. (Has Posh turned Sporty?!)

Top 5: Prada + geometric print trousers

Miuccia Prada is responsible for so many wearable trends that have translated brilliantly onto the high street in recent years. And this coming season is no exception as shoppers clamour to get their hands on flattering cropped trousers with a distinctive geometric print.

A natural successor to the pyjama pant and the art deco trend, the head-to-toe print look appeared fairly daunting on the catwalk, but do not be deceived, we reckon it would be your new best friend for the office.

While daring fashionistas can rock the whole match-matchy printed shebang, consider a printed geometric trouser with a tailored white skirt and plain jacket to let the trousers do the talking! Luckily you’re spoilt for choice and by matching some work wear staples with a new pair of trousers, could get a distinctly on-trend new season look for less than £50.

Here are our Top 5 favourites. Happy shopping!

Discovery Monday: Simeon Farrar for ASOS

Illustrator Simeon Farrar’s hugely successful Kate Mouse tshirt is back again, this time as part of an exclusive collection for ASOS. Of course a t-shirt makes up part of a super easy outfit for summer, making a statement t-shirt a solid investment.

There are 12 designs in Farrar’s collection for ASOS and all feature woodland animals – a big trend for this Autumn. We still adore the Kate Moss tee, which has sold out before so you better move fast!

Whistles to launch Limited Edition collection

Wouldn’t it be nice not to worry about turning up to a party and wearing the same dress as someone else? Well, a new Limited Edition collection from Whistles landing next month could lower the chances of such a sartorial stuff-up.

The luxe high street retailer is launching a beautiful collection of 70 pieces produced in editions of just 20 to 50 and they are sure to be in demand.

The pieces will be contemporary and luxurious (of course) and not just limited to party dresses. In fact, we’re especially excited to see the day and outerwear which will feature hot fabrics of the season such as leather, cashmere, jacquards and silk crepe *swoon*. Expect minimalist sportswear shapes, leather tees, cashmere tracksuits and pyjama-style separates as well as structured baroque-print and full-on beaded dresses for night time glamour.

Whistles CEO, Jane Shepherdson, told The Telegraph: “We decided to stretch our creative wings this year and allow ourselves the luxury of designing a small tightly edited collection of what we consider to be the most covetable pieces of the season…When we had created it, we realised that we couldn’t do without it and it became our Limited Edition…It is the epitome of what Whistles is all about -effortless luxury.”

The collection will only be stocked in a handful of top-notch Whistles stores and Harvey Nichols, Harrods plus key international department stores. But you can shop it online too. Good luck!

Discovery Monday: M&S Jeggings

Marks & Spencer’s has been trying to lure younger generations of women through its doors in recent years with celebrity campaigns and some of the world’s top models showcasing its Autograph range. But Autograph aside (and underwear and sarnies, obviously) we don’t think M&S gets enough praise. A case in point is its denim.

Sure there are styles there that you probably wouldn’t consider but amongst the bootcut there is an amazing selection of bright and statement print skinny jeans that are the bargain of the century. M&S has inexplicably called these jeggings, but they are in fact really great quality skinny jeans in a range of lengths, rainbow of colours and super soft denim…all for around £25.We love the cute swallow print jeggings for that tricky summer/autumn transition period and they really are the bargain of the century. Or you could splash out on some metallic floral print statement trous for £35.

Better still, being M&S and rather sensible, the cut is super flattering with a high-ish waist that will banish any trace of a dreaded muffin-top.

Have you got any top tips and surprising secret recommendations from Britain’s biggest retailers?

Snatcha Satchel

From battered boho festival favourites to practical luxe cases and neon fashion fads, the satchel never dies. We’re big fans of Brit brand The Cambridge Satchel Company and would readily covet a high end Proenza Schouler PS1…or anything of Rebecca Minkoff’s sexy studded satchel range. But for the budget (and style) conscious, Gap is doing beautifully soft leather mini satchels in teal, mustard and hot pink…for just £39.99. Crazy right?

Maxi coat: Cos vs Jil Sander

Raf Simons’ final show for Jil Sander included many wonders but for me, the star of the show was an oversized pastel coat that looked softer than baby bunnies. The good news is that you can nab similar pastel perfection at COS. Oh yes- you can thank us later.

Topshop for Opening Ceremony

We’re still recovering from the Olympics party and a patriotic summer of red, white and blue. So what better way to stay in the party mood than with a super hot and topical collection from Topshop…Opening Ceremony for Topshop no less. We love the mix of tough material, minimalist shapes and exposed zips.

Chanel vs Zara

Here is one gem of a dress that has just hit the rails in Zara. We LOVE the ladylike cut and jewel print, which is on-trend for AW12, according to Karl Lagerfeld and he should know. We adore Chanel’s jewelled coat and crystal embellished accessories. For more purse-friendly prices, Zara is on board with everything jewelled. Get shopping early!
