Cover Models: Emma Watson vs Lana Del Rey

We haven’t caught up  with all the October magazines yet but two of our favourites are Vogue Australia’s Lana Del Rey editorial and UK Glamour Magazine’s cover, which features Emma Watson. Both are dreamy with flowing fabric, dusty pastels and sultry blues. Which is your favourite?

Battle of the high street hotties: Lana del Rey + Rihanna

Brace yourself for stellar adverts for our fav highsteet stores. Land Del Rey is the new face of H&M, while Rihanna is designing a hot clothing collection for River Island.

Lana will film a commercial for H&M and record a song called Blue Velvet especially for the campaign, which so far shoes her in a fluffy pink sweater. Apparently the collection will be super feminine with a focus on knitwear and tweed…two of AW12’s key looks. The brand’s creative director reportedly told WWD that ‘the mood is very LA noir’ … yay!

Meanwhile, after a lot of speculation, Rihanna is officially designing her own capsule collection for River Island…but you’ll have to wait until Spring to get your hands on it. This is possibly a good thing as we bet some of the outfits will be slightly revealing and edgy…not handy in winter with goose pimples.

Rihanna told the press: “I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”

Best dressed: Mulberry + Frieze Projects

Mulberry’s exclusive dinners are fast becoming one of the best ways to see the hottest celebs of the day and some of Mulberry’s up-and-coming handbags.

The brand’s creative director Emma Hill threw a dinner party in honour of the artists of Frieze Projects (a charitable scheme to commission art for outdoor spaces) and in the process outed a new handbag – ‘the double handled Lily in Flame Exotic Tweed’ – like it?

We do. And we also like Alexa Chung’s chic look and Lana del Rey’s totally tangerine outfit.

Alexa can do no wrong!

Lana Del Rey covers French Glamour

Ooh la la, Lana Del Rey dares to bare in retro-style swimsuits and those obligatory Louis Vuitton and Prada SS12 looks. J’adore.

Ooh la la!

My new make-up inspiration. Super sultry!

is this the same shot (by Mario Testino) seen in British Vogue?

Retro raunch

Top 5: Bomber jackets

Isabel Marant sent a wonderfully retro kitch-made-cool bomber jacket down the catwalk last summer and now stars like Lana Del Rey and Jessie J are keeping the trend well and truly alive. While Varsity –look jackets can still be found, we love the floral print and scarf print offerings on the high street that are a cheap and chic outfit updater and can be worn with your favourite pair of skinny jeans or shorts with minimum effort. Style with hi-tops for bonus urban style brownie points!

The trend setter. Thank you Isabel Marant (check out the pastel jeans too!) SS11 indeed.

But I favour florals. This print is amazing up-close and reminds me of Paul Smith. Zara printed bomber jacket £29.99

But I also like Topshop's Intricate Mirror Floral bomber jacket for £48

Snapped: Lana Del Rey’s sparkly shoes!

Lana Del Rey (a style crush of ours) was seen out and about in London yesterday causing a stir with her choice of sheer top and skirt.  She obviously did a spot of shopping while she was here too as the shoes she’s wearing look suspiciously like the ones that are new in at Topshop.  They’re much more sparkly in real life and a great way to embrace the underwater trend in a more subtle way this season.

Lana del Rey goes gangster in Versace

Lana del Rey is the self-styled ‘the gangster Nancy Sinatra” and now it appears her dress sense is getting increasingly gangster/90s rapper glam (at least for a Versace shoot) – cue lots of gold and loud prints. Are you a fan?

LFW day2/3: Stella McCartney vs Mulberry

Both shows were packed with celebs, drama and were one of LFW’s hottest tickets so how did Stella’s starry dinner compare with Mulberry’s magical woodland?

Mulberry: yetis + monsters!

Halloween came early at Mulberry as monsters, yetis and Where The Wild Things Are inspired outfits were de rigour…as well as some elegant gowns and sensational printed parkers – my new lust-have.

You’ll be wearing furry gilets and jackets belted at the waist with thick woolly items and sleek lady-like skirts teamed with heeled hiking boots (dig them out from Winter ’10). Tangerine and burnt tones with brown and black zigzags, mixed textures and quilting made up the outdoorsy winter-wear, while star prints and subtle multicoloured metallics will make winter sparkle in due time.

We also glimpsed the new Del Rey bag, aptly carried by Lana in ostrich white.

Guest list: Laura Carmichael and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) sat alongside Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, Lana Del Rey, Pixie Geldof, Azealia Banks, Olivia Palermo, Pixie Lott, Anna Wintour…impressive!

Stella: dinner for hundreds

According to Vogue the celebs sat down to a tasty veggie dinner chez Stella while models wafted around, then at 11pm a famous magician entertained the crowd by apparently hypnotising Alexa Chung before balancing her on three swords. And it got weirder…a model started screaming, waiters dropped their trays and a flash mob ensued with models carried in on chairs. To hell with a catwalk!

Guest list: Rihanna, Kate Moss, Yasmin Le Bon, Minnie Driver, Anna Wintour, Bill Nighy, Alison Mosshart, Alexa Chung, Mario Testino and many more.

After all the drama, guests finally got to see a capsule collection of evening wear complete with amazing costume jewellery before the big reveal in Paris next week. And there’s no pics yet!

Lana Del Rey for Vogue vs Alexa Chung for Elle

It’s magazine front cover time again and this month both Alexa Chung and Lana Del Rey are wearing Louis Vuitton on the cover of two of the UK’s most prestigious fashion magazines.

The question is who do you prefer?

P.S. We LOVE Louis Vuitton’s SS12 collection, but we’ve lost count of how many celebs have worn it in editorials. Enough already?

Lana Del Rey for V Magazine

We love Lana– the music and soon-to-be fashion icon. In this shoot for V Magazine she’s more polished than usual and wearing some seriously coverable Spring threads – Louis Vuitton, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Lucky girl!
