PFW: statement jumpers

Good news for those of us living in moderately chilly countries (or with rubbish summers), you can comfortably invest in a statement jumper as it will carry you through the winter too…just go easy on the pastels!

PFW: metallics live on

Wallets rejoice – metallics are still hot for AW12 so keep hold of all your sparkly favourites to re-style later this year.

Yes you’ve guessed it, there were sequins at Elie Saab but mirrored panels at Miu Miu and shards of crystal at Chanel as well as plenty of shiny silk, metallic brocade, delicate foiled finishes and smooth fabrics with a subtle metallic weave in precious metal and mineral-inspired shades. The message? Shiny is good in different textures and it’s for the day-time too.

Lots of bronze and rose gold at Gaultier

PFW: white on white

Celine has tried (and perhaps managed) to remove some of the unfashionable stigma of white heels this Spring and the all-white look is set to carry on through winter (yes even the shoes apparently). Personally I love the white tuxedo-style ensembles. So for those who would like to be a snow queen…behold!

Celine. J'adore.

Futuristic at Mugler

Streamlined and businesslike at Roland Mouret

I couldn't resist- I love the cobalt touches on this crisp shirt by Stella McCartney

PFW: the return of the LBD

Thank you Paris our prayers have been answered. So many girls chase trends (us included) and spend hours putting together the perfect ‘going out’ ensemble, when the classic little black dress makes us feel great each time. After a long absence from the catwalk, we spied some beautiful examples of perfect LBDs. Want!

Classy Dior

Chanel goes a little spacey - I'd lose the trousers and stick to high court shoes but Kagerfeld must know best!

Effortlessly sexy at Isabel Marant

Sheer perfection at Nina Ricci

I love the classic shape of this Roland Mouret number

A fluted affair at Valentino

I love this Vanessa Bruno dress - perfection

PFW: tapestry + wallpaper

We’re trying to think of when tapestry was last cool – maybe in the 1970s thanks to Carole King? But this coming winter we’ll be going crazy for it and old wallpaper-esque prints with metallic touches, brocade and intricate beaded and lacy detailing. You have been warned. Time to redecorate!

Amazing craftmanship from Balmain

My favourite look -Carven

Tapestry-tastic at Valentino

Medieval influences meets punk - yeah, Vivienne Westwood of course

Loud prints at Kenzo

Retro wallpaper prints at Louis Vuitton

Metallics at Miu Miu

PFW: Super femme

From flouncy florals at Nina Ricci and Cacherel, to pale pastels at Roland Mouret, Dior and Alexander McQueen, there were some cute feminine pieces at Paris Fashion Week – much less about the punchy digital floral prints of London and more focused on some Parisian romance, with references to yester-years from almost puritanical cuts to 1940s and 1950s lady-like silhouettes.

Soft pleats at Dior

Futuristic but frothy at Alexander McQueen

Love the colour and cut of this Roland Mouret ensemble

Romantic florals at Cacherel

VERY demure at Valentino

Such a pretty, simple dress! Nina Ricci

Chanel vs Ke$ha (seriously)

We have got the best PFW round-up coming your way this weekend but until then sparkly eyebrows and some less challenging Chanel deats. The weird thing is, Ke$ha might have beaten Karl Lagerfeld to this trickiest of micro trends. Voila!

Top 5 Fashion Week moments of 2011

We’re weren’t a-bloggin’ this time last year so SS12 was our first official fashion week- and there was plenty of drama. Here are our top 5 fashion moments (we’ll be waxing lyrical about our favourite looks post NYE festivities!)

1-Florence Welch performs in a shell for Chanel

The clothes, celeb-packed frow, clam-shell clutches, giant shell and hottest musician Florence Welch, huge set…we just love Chanel!

2-Lyndey Wixon takes a tumble for Versace

Versace has had a big year and one of 2011’s best-known models, Lyndsey Wixon had a real catwalk moment after falling over in some extremely high underwater-themed Versace platforms. We love how she got up, smiled and punched the air.

We love Lyndsey!

3-Lana Del Ray x Christopher Kane

We are crazy for Lana Del Rey (her look and magical music) and we first heard it at Christopher Kane’s show, where the combination of clothes, super long runway and choice of track made for a memorable fashion moment.

4-Kate Moss rides Louis Vuitton’s merry-go-round

Impressive sets were the order of the day for some SS12 fashion shows (Chanel and Louis Vuitton did it best) and we loved Vuitton’s magical merry-go-round and Kate Moss was the icing on the cake.

Moss makes merry

5-The Balenciaga bench collapse

Maybe it’s my childish sense of humour but the Balenciaga bench collapse at PFW made me giggle. While the Art Deco-inspired collection was amazing, it was like an extra fashion show seeing what Anna Wintour et all were wearing.

Miu Miu + the coolest Paris frow?

We’re BIG Miu Miu fans at Snap Fashion. Our founder/tech girl would do almost anything for the satin cat platforms (her one that got away) while I lust after this season’s glitter bootie.

No surprise then that we loved this SS12 collection seemingly inspired by red riding hood – capes and basket-like bags and all. There was also a touch of the Wizard of Oz n the form of boots the Wicked Witch of the East would go green with envy over (oh hang on…) with pointy mules and knee-high boots that were part witchy and part cow-girl!

To avoid being too fairy-tale, red eye shadow, severe hairstyles and plenty of grey toned down the girly florals, mini capes with velvet bows (love!) and cute patchwork prints. Scroll down for celebs!

Apparently Grace Coddington told Juno Temple that she thought the collection was “wonderful.”

Perfection in patchwork

Cute cropped cape and must-have mules

Will be adding velvet bows to our Spring coats!

My fav look- a little more grown-up but I love the blush satin

Love the witch-style boots?

Super Cute Florrie Arnold

Hailee Steinfeld is cute and kooky

Virginie Courtin-Clarins + Claire Courtin-Clarins distinctively quirky

Celeb round-up Paris frows
