Vogue: going for gold
As the closing ceremony for the London 2012 Games approaches we’re filled with excitement, tinged with a little sadness as this Summer of sport has been incredible. (We’re still stoked about the Paralympics btw!)
As well as Victoria (Spice Girl again) Beckham’s probably performance one of the rumoured features of the closing extravaganza is a supermodel walk-off and we can’t wait. Naomi Campbell hosted a dinner party that has whetted our appetites further – just look at the outfits – while Vogue has produced this glittering golden display of British fashion talent. Go Team GB!

Olympics: British supermodel walk-off rumours
If there was a fashion Olympics, we would like to see running in heels, hurdling Hermes Birkin bags and a walk-off. Oh, hang on a minute, it would appear the fashion gods have smiled on London 2012 and we might just get a supermodel walk-off after all!
According to rumours, Britain’s best supermodels are set to strut their stuff in the closing ceremony and we’re talking the likes of Lily Cole, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Georgia May Jagger and Kate Moss – natch.
Of course if the rumours are true, we expect them to be wearing a selection of clothing from British designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen…and the Daily Mirror says it will all be sound tracked to David Bowie’s ‘Fashion’ and ‘Rebel Rebel’.
We also read somewhere that they will each be paid one pound to take part – but after reading so many stories we’re afraid we might have made that bit up. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Happy birthday Sir Philip Green
We couldn’t help but include a rather strange picture of Sir Topshop’s 60th birthday celebrations that we spotted in the Sunday papers.
There’s a group of people playing American football on the beach and The Daily Mail insists they include Leo DiCaprio, Kate Hudson and Naomi Campbell.
In fact the beach setting is reportedly in Mexico, where the stars and other friends of Sir Philip Green were invited to celebrate the retail tycoon’s birthday. Apparently guests got an invitation in a handmade wooden box (how My Very Super Sweet 16!) and instructions to pack for warm weather, expect a long flight and…a request for their measurements, possibly so fancy dress costumes can be provided for a massive final night party expected to cost an eye watering £5m.
I’m not 100% sure why I wanted to bring you this news- possibly because I was intrigued by the photo and surprised how different Naomi and Kate look in ‘real life’. Who knows whether any of this report is accurate!
Retro photo shoot smack-down: Naomi Campbell vs Katy Perry
Oh the retro photo shoot with its romantic photography, film siren eyeliner and glam clothes, we’ve seen so many of late and yet we’re not bored…yet!
Can you believe Naomi Campbell is 41? I mean seriously! She steals Tina Turner’s style for a quirky shoot for W Magazine but thankfully not her unique walk (that’s not how you close Roberto Cavalli’s MFW show y’all.)
And so to Katy Perry for Interview magazine (get scrolling!) who has gone all old-school Hollywood with tassels and burlesque details, but in an almost Art Deco kind-of-way and she really reminds me of a young Elizabeth Taylor. Anyone else?

Advert snap! Pinko + L’Oreal
We get a little (too) excited about spring adverts and one of our favourites was Naomi Campbell for Pinko. We love the super dramatic black dress and Naomi always looks fantastic. So we were surprised to see Cheryl Cole wearing a similar frock and striking an almost identical pose for her latest batch of L’Oreal adverts. Snap!
Best SS12 adverts
While I might hanker after a wooly jumper or two and lust after some statement coats, for me, nothing is exciting as seeing the SS12 collections- this year, an explosion of citrus colours, floral prints and beachy pastels. It makes me wish for sunshine now.
So without further ado, here are some excellent SS12 adverts to get you in the (early) holiday mood. Fetch me a Pina Colada!
Super Models re-group for Duran Duran shoot
We heard at one point that the 1990s supermodels were re-grouping to film a Duran Duran video. We’re not 100% sure if this is happening now but the girls – Naomi Campbell, Yasmin le Bon, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova and our favourite Helena Christensen – look incredible dressed as the 80s band on the cover of the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
Lady Gaga channels Cousin It
We know it’s October but it’s not Halloween yet! So far Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have dressed up as Batman and other slightly scary characters for their StyleMint collection video and Miu Miu showed its witchy collection on zombie-effect models. Now it seems Lady Gaga has got her fashion inspiration from the Adam’s Family – specifically Cousin It.
We liked Gaga’s recent beehive do with a green streak and this look wth the super huge hairy hat (and dress) is definitely – brave.
Cheryl Cole was also at the HTC and Beats Audio party last night wearing on-trend leather leggings and an intriguing polka dot ‘illusion- style’ tee with a scary face on it! We have serious hair envy (Cheryl’s not Gaga’s!)
Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell looks, well strange’ on the cover of Lurve magazine (come might say scary…where have her eyebrows gone?!)

Giselle + Natalia Vodianova walk for Givenchy + celeb frow
Givenchy wheeled out the supermodels to show off its latest collection in Paris – another seaside influenced collection with sharp tailoring and couture influences.
Seriously tight trousers were a little like wetsuits, sharks tooth necklaces, textured fabrics like fish scales and sandy colours evoked seaside sexy – no sticks of rock or deckchairs as inspiration as seen at Jaeger and Mulberry LFW.
Love it? Vanessa Hudgens’ revealing kaftan maxi
Like it or loathe it?
We love the print of Vanessa Hudgens’ printed kaftan but would you dare wear an outfit so low?
Meanwhile, Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks covered up in a chic leopard print dress befitting of her character Joan, at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Iris: A Journey through the World of Cinema.
Cindy Crawford looked effortlessly elegant in the way only supermodels can do when wearing jeans. See Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell battle it out in the style/party stakes here.
